What makes you feel beautiful? I don’t mean putting on makeup or curling your hair or getting your nails done or buying that perfect outfit. What makes you feel beautiful, on the inside, as a person?
There are a few basic things I do every day to help me feel good. I gave up about 95% of my caffeine intake years ago mostly to see if it would help me sleep better. It did, kind of. I drink no soda, which is full of nothing redeeming anyway. My go-to drink is water. It’s so good for so many reasons. But water is rather boring. I bought some fun cups that somehow make it more interesting! And always have a few bottles in the fridge. To make sure I’m drinking enough, I have gotten in the habit of taking it with me wherever I go. It’s my travel companion.
I’m not a “go to the gym” type, but of course, exercise is important. Finally, I’ve got a routine down, same time every day, and it’s in the morning. (Knowing myself, if I left it ‘til the evening, it probably wouldn’t happen.) Push-ups and dips, sit-ups, a few other core exercises, and squats. Could I do more? Sure, but I round it out with brisk walks with my very energetic pup (they’re more like trots than walks). It’s also another weapon in my fight for a good nights’ sleep!
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to eat more fruit. I know it’s good for me, but I’m more of a salty girl, so I would always grab nuts or cheese over an apple or orange. I decided to incorporate smoothies into my life. In the morning, along with my protein of choice. So far, it’s working out. I try to make it as simple as possible to ensure I do it. My recipe is ice, a little juice, 1-2 bananas and berries (raspberries and/or blueberries). Notice these fruits don’t need to be cut up…just throw them in the blender…easy peasy!
Whatever you do to make yourself feel great, keep it up! Oh, and a smile on your face makes everyone more beautiful.
